New Year and New Traditions at The Hale Pau Hana

A cup of coffee outside, a book you finally have time to finish, dinner on the lawn: a stay can develop its own routine surprisingly quickly. This collection of guest memories began as a January 2022 welcome to the new year. The photographs and quotations are retained from that post.

A quiet start on the lanai

Open the lanai doors, make breakfast and take a little time before deciding where to go. You can spend the morning close to the condo or head out after everyone is ready. The kitchen is useful even when most of your meals will be at restaurants.

On a walk through the grounds, look at the plants and flowers without picking them. Our garden photographs show some of the blooms guests have noticed during earlier stays.

Choose your place to read

Bring the book you have been meaning to finish and settle in for a while. The lawn and pool are shared spaces, so use chairs while you are there rather than reserving them for later. Leave the property furniture on the grounds.

The house rules explain pool use, quiet hours and shared seating. A little consideration makes it easier for everyone to enjoy an unhurried afternoon.

A short visit to Kamaole Beach II

The beach is beside HPH, with no road to cross from the property. Ground-floor lanais open onto the lawn above it; upper-floor units have a different route downstairs. Check your unit's location when planning the stay.

A walk or time on the sand can be enough. Before swimming, ask a lifeguard about conditions and supervise children closely. Confirm what beach equipment is supplied with your particular condo instead of assuming every unit includes the same gear. Our beach-day guide covers the practical details.

Dinner on the lawn
